Part of the Process - The Hand

Now this is another tutorial I've done up. The bane of my artistic prowess is, has and I feel forever will be hands and feet. In spite of this, I refuse to let it get me down and I try to get it right time and time again (with mixed results). Here are some basic hand shapes I often draw and the steps are for the most part the same each time;

Step 1) I draw what I like to call a 'skeleton', which is a hand's basic form (wrist, palm, fingers) in whatever position it's to ultimately be in (open, fist, gesture, ect. )

Step 2) I draw each of the joints/main portions or sections of the hand (by and large, just drawing a circle for each part)

Step 3 I draw a crude outline around the skeleton and sections, not needing to be perfect just yet

Step 4 I touch up and refine the hand with all the last steps in place (skeleton, sections, basic outline), add in a few details here and there (skin creases, finger nails, ect. )and ink it when it looks good.

That's that. I've always had such trouble with hands and feet, but I'm getting the hang of the hands. Until next time.
